Go Green With A Takagi Tankless Water Heater
Having hot water always ready in the water heater tank is nice, but by the time it gets to your faucet or shower head, you have had to wait a few minutes at least, wasted the cold water than came before it, and then deal with the coldness of the pipes that keeps it from getting really hot for a while. In the meantime you are wasting the gas or electricity (and the cost of them) trying to keep the water hot. With a Takagi Tankless Water Heater, you have hot water at the point of use with no waiting for it to heat up.
Takagi has several styles of tankless water heaters, with one for every need or use. They range in size from a 6.8 to a 14.5 gallons per minute (gpm) water flow, with a matching size of from 33 pounds up to 102 pounds, depending on how much water you will need at one time. The smaller unit, the T-K Jr2-IN/OS, will give approx. 3.3 gpm and 228 gph, where the largest model, the T-M50 will provide 7.9gpm or 474 gallons/hour (gph). Prices, if you install it yourself, run from $648.00 to $3500.00, not including any extra parts you may need for your specific installation. If you have someone else put it in for you, this will be an additional cost.
All of the models use propane ( lp ) or natural gas, which means that should your electric power ever go out, you will still have hot water. Since it only uses the gas when hot water is needed you save over not only traditional gas water heaters, but electric ones as well, which reduces your price for hot water. The natural gas tanks usually use the gas provided by your local utility. As of January 2006, the federal government has offered a tax credit to those who install a tankless water heater, so this will make the cost of the unit even lower, Check with your local utility to see how much the credit in your area is. With the need to reduce waste and conserve resources for future generation, tankless water heating is the way to go.
